One year ago today, I sold my first item on Amazon as a merchant fulfilled seller after having taken a 6 year hiatus from selling books.

One year ago today, I heard of this thing called “Fulfillment By Amazon.”

One year ago today, I listed a package of photo paper on Amazon to see if I would have better luck selling it there than I was on eBay.

One year ago today, I sold that photo paper on Amazon for $3.99 + a $3.99 shipping credit.

One year ago today, I realized that other stuff besides books sells pretty fast on Amazon and that I should probably look into this “FBA” thing to see what all the hype was about.

One year ago today, I learned what “Q4” meant but I didn’t know how to get in on the action.

…fast forward to today…

One year ago today marks the first sale I made after taking a 6 year break from selling on Amazon. This is a reminder of how far I've come and where I can go from here...

One year ago today marks the first sale I made after taking a 6 year break from selling on Amazon. This is a reminder of how far I’ve come and where I can go from here…

Today was the first time since I’ve started selling via Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) that I’ve actually seen something other than $0.00 in the “Same day last year” column. I consider today to be a milestone for me because I now have something to compare my sales to. This time last year, I sold two (2) items for the entire month of December for a total of $8.98. I was frustrated with my eBay sales and I was looking for another revenue stream to help me bring in extra money to get rid of my student loans and the speed in which those items sold was enough for me to really research what FBA was.

Fast forward to today. I achieved a new milestone which is grossing $2k in sales in a single day. It is amazing to see what I’ve learned since then and I’m excited about the possibilities that await me. 🙂

Until next time…keep on sourcing and shipping,

I currently have around 1,900 items at Amazon. A little more than 215 of those items are VHS tapes and I have about 1,000 books as well. The rest falls under everything else. 🙂

ohhh, I like that! I’ll have to keep an eye out for my one year anniversary in March! Congrats!!

  4. Wow! 2k in a day is a huge number on Amazon, and it seems like you’re pretty keeping your margins in the black. Keep on crushing it!

The margins I’m seeing now are close to what I received prior to buying retail items, but not quite 100%. Some items we’re willing to take less on if we can buy at least 10 or more at a time.

  5. You inspire me – it’s great to see how far you have come in one year! Big difference between Day 1 and Day 366 (or close to that)! When I first looked at your numbers, I thought the 2000+ was for the whole month not the day! Very impressive! Congratulations!

  6. Congrats Yolanda on a fabulous 1 year anniversary! I sell quite a bit MF, and just signed up for FBA. I have a lot of unlisted Ebay inventory that I will be going through in the first quarter and I’m hoping that will help me add to the FBA inventory.

You recently wrote about not adding extra $ to your school loans, and instead using that to fund FBA inventory for this season. How’s it going?

Woo hoo! It sounds like you have a plan in place and I definitely agree with you about waiting until the holiday selling season is over to get started. I’m sure you’re busy with other eBay related duties and the last thing you want to do is add something else in the mix. If you have any questions about getting started with FBA, feel free to shoot me a message!

Also, to answer your question, I plan to have my income report up soon that will detail my results so far. It has taken a little longer to get it out due to the holiday season and having a recent death in the family.

  7. Congrats on your milestone. Continue to make it happen.
